My beloved Dilli
I came to you young and eager
You were a beauty to behold
I did not want to ever but
I fell in love with you
I baked in your sun
I frolicked in your rain
I stretched your winters
I used it as my quilt.
For I loved you.
Then you stared growing
And I started getting smaller
Then shots rang out
Some stones that killed
Some sticks that broke my spine
Streets yellow with laburnum
Alleys red with Flame of Forest
Became yellow with jaundice
Became red with fresh blood
Your winters with mist
Turned grey like ash
You have been stabbed
By those you trusted
You are going up in flames today
I wilt along with your soul
Your wounds, My faith ruined
I used to visit dergahs also
Now I don’t visit temples too
I can neither leave you dying
Nor do I love you anymore 😢
